James Cartwright is a painter and sculptor.

It has taken a lifetime to realise the responsibilities inherent in being able to sculpt and paint. Always to be truthful. To be a witness, certainly, of  the time in which we live but also to express those human values and feelings precious to us all. To assert one's right to speak, in one's own language, freely, a lesson that has to be learned anew generation by generation.

I am a member of the Lapiz Art Collective.

I use all the usual materials for painting and sculpting and anything else that takes my fancy.

All but a few of the pictures show work that is fairly recent.

All living artists retain the copyright of their works.
